This mirror is nearly 200 years old and looks like it in all the right ways. The reverse painting of a ship is nearly gone, not to mention the intensely compromised mirrored surface, but still, it hits the mark with me. I keep looking into it and imagine a circa 1815 Yankee cousin of Jane Austen looking back at me, fixing her bonnet before going out for one of those long walks people back then liked so well. The mirror — a Federal style hand painted piece with gold details — is a fresh piece for The Roving Home’s shop.
